Embrace the darkness… There’s no light without it!
How’ve you been feeling recently… as the days are getting shorter?
Or if you are in the Southern Hemisphere, as they’re getting longer?
I’m sitting in my home in Zurich right now, watching giant snowflakes fall outside and cozying in a blanket next to my fireplace.
During my walks this week, I’ve noticed how incredibly short the days are. I used to dread this time of year (and I know I’m not alone in that!).
However 7 years ago, I had a profound shift in my understanding of Winter Solstice and its power.
For much of my life, I thought being “in the light” was the ultimate goal. As a long-time yogi and spiritual seeker, that was the aim of all practice, wasn’t it? To get rid of “bad” feelings and have more “good” ones.
After all, enlightenment was the goal, right?
Today, I see things differently. Today… I’m all about “endarkenment.”
So, as we move into the darkest days of the year, I’d love to share with you how I make the most potent use of this time as Winter Solstice approaches…
And embrace the darkness… its mysteries and its gifts.
To kick things off, here are my reflections from Solstice 2019… it was a big one for me!
If you’re in the Southern Hemisphere and days are getting longer, what I’ll share still holds true for you 🙂
